My 'list of films to see' is running really low right now and I'm looking for inspiration. Holy Mountain looks interesting.

Here are some of my favourites just so you get an idea of what I am into:
    Akira
    Raise the Red Lantern
The Lone Wolf and Cub series
    Three Colours White
    The Barbarian Invasions
The Idiots (nesta, you should watch this one if you haven't)
    Laputa: Castle in the Sky
    Days of Heaven
    Kes

    (anything good really)

I think El Topo is far better then Holy Mountain, but both are must sees if you like weird shit like Akira.
El Topo has a more interesting story in my opinion, while the story for Holy Mountain seems to be more of an afterthought, the force to keep the visual experience moving along. Surely that's not the case, but to me it comes off like that.
Both have incredible soundtracks but being that Don Cherry is my all time favorite world/jazz musician, Holy Mountain is where it's it at for music.
I guess El Topo speaks to me because its about a guy killing gun masters in the desert who ends up in a bad mushroom trip, and Holy Mountain just tries to tackle too many marketed spiritual practices and combine them as one intense visual experience [Tarot, mysticism, alchemy, buddhism, shamanism, etc].
I dont know, like I said they are both worth watching when it comes right down to it.
